The Roots Color and Toner category at the Hair Championships will take place on the show floor of Professional Beauty Dubai at the Festival Arena on 18 February.

It's a 105 minute live hair colouring competition and the entrants will be judged live by some of the best industry professionals.

The Prize

Judging criteria

  1. Recolor hair condition

  5. Hair texture
  6. Roots color

ENTER THE HAIR CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Rules

  1. 1 hour 45 minutes is given for the entire work.
  2. Contestant must color the roots, tone and refresh the length, middle length, ends if needed.
  3. Toner is a choice of contestant, as long as texture of hair and hair color is smooth and appealing.
  4. Hair length of a model should be not longer than shoulder blade length.
  5. Models must wear black cloths, convenient for hair color process. Models cloths must not display any brand logo or a name. Models cloths must be respectful and in line with culture understanding of UAE.
  6. Roots regrowth should not be longer than 2 cm in length prior to start of championship.
  7. Roots regrowth natural hair color can be grey or partially grey, as long as it is natural, uncolored.
  8. Vaseline, skin color protection creams or other recolor protection solutions are not allowed to be used prior to color application.
  9. Any type of gown, neck papers, neck color protecting towel, plastic cape is allowed to be used.
  10. Towel for wash should be supplied by contestants.
  11. Contestants are NOT allowed to use any bleach powder, bleach gels, bleach liquid.
  12. Contestants are allowed to use any professional hair brand color and coloring system, such as developers, oxidants, color cream, liquid colors and gels.
  13. Contestant are allowed to use combs, brushes, hair clips, tinting brushes, bowls, liquid bottle applicators, application dispenser.
  14. Toners are allowed to be made as long as the initial colored length part of hair is not more than 2 levels different to initial color state.
  15. Hair color must compliment the look and skin tone of the model.
  16. Hair wash should be made thoroughly and there should be no color left on the skin or hair.
  17. Skin color removal products are not allowed to be used during the championship.
  18. Contestants must finish the hairstyle with a blow-dry.
  19. Blow-dry must be made in no curls style, natural smooth hair flow finish. Judges must be able to see the color quality.
  20. Constants are allowed to use any type of blowdryers and any types of hair brushes.
  21. Irons, curlers, wavers, any hot styling tools are NOT allowed to be used.
  22. Styling products such as fixing or styling mouse, fixing or styling spray, fixing or styling gel, fixing or styling pomade, volume powder, dry shampoo are NOT allowed to be used.
  23. Coloring roots and skin powders are not allowed to be used.
  24. Contestants are allowed to use leave in conditioning treatments, oils for ends, treatment sprays mists.
