The study, part of Wethrift's Micro-Trends Culture: Mapped report, evaluated a seed list of popular beauty trends. It analyzed Google search volume, TikTok views, and Instagram hashtags, assigning each factor a score out of 10 to determine an overall score out of 40 for each trend. Siren Eyes emerged as the victor with an impressive score of 28.6.

The enchanting allure of Siren Eyes draws inspiration from Greek mythology. This trend revolves around using eyeliner to create a sultry effect that elongates the eye. On TikTok, #Sireneyes has amassed an astonishing 1.2 billion views, solidifying its prominence and appeal.

Coming in a close second with a score of 28.5 is Skin Cycling. This trend involves creating a skincare routine that alternates between days of product usage and days without. During the study period, Google Trends observed an astounding 1,200% increase in searches for Skin Cycling compared to the previous year. Moreover, the TikTok hashtag #skincycling garnered an impressive 451 million views.

Securing the third spot with a score of 27.9 is the Glazed Doughnut Nails trend. Characterized by nude nails with a pearlescent finish, this nail craze has captured the attention of millions on TikTok, accumulating 229 million views. Additionally, on Instagram, it garnered 39,709 hashtags, benefitting from endorsements by celebrities like Hayley Bieber.

The list also includes other influential trends like skin flooding and Barbie-core, both prominent within the TikTok scene. It reflects the growing popularity of the clean girl aesthetic, characterized by slicked-back ponytails and minimal makeup, which has taken over social media in recent years.
