Alongside traditional autumnal hues, midnight blues, rich purples and lashings of shimmer feature in the latest nail collections

While this season’s palettes spell an end to the neon colours sported this summer, the newly launched fall polishes and gels are anything but dull.

Nail art is back with a vengeance, this season, and dominated the AW18 catwalks, with animal prints and dazzling gems appearing on talons in all the major fashion shows.

Tom Ford, Max Mara and Givenchy went wild for animalistic looks such as leopard, snake and zebra prints, while, perfect for our sun-soaked climate, brightly coloured cuticles featured at the Moschino show.

Meanwhile CND took inspiration from the so-called “Grandad style” clothing that is set to be hot this season – think oversized jumpers and chunky cardigans over dresses – creating raised nail art patterns resembling cable knit, for the Libertine’s show.

These exciting catwalk looks can be easily translated into the salon using the autumn polish collections from the GCC’s professional nail brands, and for clients who prefer block colour, from metallic greens to navy blues, purples and reds, nail techs will have plenty to play with this season, enabling them to create dreamy seasonal looks.

Sugar and spice

For clients who prefer to stick to seasonal shades, the colours of autumn leaves are given a spicy twist in LeChat’s Color Me Autumn collection which features six beautiful colours. Neutral tones include Cashmere, a soft dusty rose and Brown Sugar, a rustic brown with warm undertones. For those not quite ready to leave summer behind, Harvest Moon is a bright, spiced orange while Brushed Blush is a vibrant coral with a hint of pink. Vampish Painted Maple is a rich, deep red and Bittersweet a gorgeous deep burgundy.

Elsewhere Deborah Lippman’s fall collection All Fired Up and fall signature set, Liquid Metal, is described by the company as “distressed metal giving way to an array of rustic beauty from oxidized copper, aged patina and rusty browns”. These modern autumnal hues will surely evoke the feeling of leaves on the forest floor for your clients.

Cool sophistication

Whatever the season, “classic and elegant nudes will always be the first choice for certain ladies,” says Rochelle Breedt creative manager at Wellness United, which distributes the Italian cruelty-free nail line Fedua. The gel and polish brand launched into the region earlier this year at the Professional Beauty GCC 2018 exhibition and can already be found in Sisters Beauty Lounge, Floral Beauty Lounge, Salon Ink, Sharjah Ladies Club. “Our nail colours in Body, Ballerina, Marshmallow and Terre d’Afrique are great options for such clients as there are many undertones to choose from,” she added.

Bio Sculpture’s fall collection More than A Feeling is inspired by “the luxury of seeking silent moments”, with shades of cool grey, pastel pink, glittery violet, teal blue and dark plum. Oozing femininity, elegance, and charm, this collection is perfect for clients seeking sophistication in shades that are darker and more moody than those of summer.

Purple haze

Often associated with luxury, power, confidence and ambition, purple always makes a statement, whether worn in garments or on talons, and it is set to be the colour of the season. Evo gel celebrates this majestic tone in the Fall collection Evo Purples. The gorgeous six shades range from muted violet pink to a glistering dark violet and feature nuances of angelic lavender, royal indigo, fiery pink, and intense violet. Perfect for clients who like to turn heads.

Let it shine (and shimmer)

While matte and crème polishes are still popular, metallics and shimmers are predicted to be the most popular texture this fall and beyond into the festive season. Ensure clients are on point with Cuccio’s autumn collection Tapestry. Sittingalongside stunning soft brown, eggplant, charcoal and rum raisin crème colours are Cover Me Up,a midnight black with soft rainbow glitter, Positive Thread, a warm brown with an added rose gold shimmer and You’re Sew Special, a gorgeous gold foil metallic hue. Perfect for parties or clients who like to sparkle.

While our region may not strictly experience autumn in terms of weather, the fun array of new nail colours now on offer ensures that your clients can experience the positivity and sense of newness typically brought about the change of seasons. Therefore seasonal launches are a great marketing hook to entice clients into your salon and try the new colours so ensure that you spread the word and post about your new colours on social media.
