- Academy to conduct hands-on training programs, masterclasses, and expert workshops to elevate the craft of 2,000 hairstylists in KSA every year.
L’Oréal’s Professional Products Division has inaugurated the first-ever sustainable academy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This state-of-the-art academy, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia, represents a significant milestone in the region’s professional beauty industry. The new academy is the company’s third in the Kingdom, with a mission to empower Saudi women by honing their craft and entrepreneurial spirit, while also advancing the sustainability agenda and setting new standards for the beauty industry.
Aligned with the "L'Oréal for the Future" global sustainability program, the new academy in Saudi Arabia by the L'Oréal Professional Products Division is a cornerstone of its ‘Hairstylists for the Future Salon’ project. This initiative is designed to foster sustainable practices within the beauty industry, ensuring that future hairdressers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to incorporate eco-friendly practices throughout their operations, from production to retail.
The academy is dedicated to developing top-tier talent in the hairdressing profession offering comprehensive training in technical, business and digital skills, which will enable participants to further their careers and build a strong clientele. Starting in July, the academy will launch a six-month training course aimed at upskilling 50 Saudi hairstylists annually. This training will prepare them to embark on their own ventures or secure prominent positions in the country’s leading salons. Additionally, the academy will host more than 2,000 hairstylists and freelancers in Riyadh each year for hands-on training programs, masterclasses, and expert workshops with international and local artists to elevate their craft.
As the first sustainable academy of its kind in Saudi Arabia, the facility is designed to minimize its environmental footprint with environment-friendly building material and practices. It features FSC-certified wood, MDF made from recycled materials, and is equipped with energy-saving LED lights and water-saving shower heads. The sustainable elements within the academy include stabilized moss for natural greenery, Corian countertops with low VOC emissions, and a comprehensive waste management program in partnership with Naqaa Solutions.
Mehdi Moutaoukil, General Manager, Professional Products Division at L’Oréal Middle East, said: “As leaders in the Saudi market, L’Oréal Middle East is committed to driving sustainable development in the professional beauty industry. Our new academy exemplifies our pioneering ‘Hairstylists for the Future Salon’ project, instilling a strong sense of environmental responsibility in our program participants. We are thrilled to shape the future of beauty in Saudi Arabia through innovation and responsible practices.”
With its other academies in Jeddah and Khobar, L’Oréal also aims to train over 100 hairstylists annually, significantly contributing to the growth and development of the local beauty industry.
