Rossano Ferretti: The Hair Pioneer
To mark the launch of the latest Rossano Ferretti Hairspa amongst the lush greenery of the highly prestigious Park Hyatt in Dubai, Professional Beauty sits down with the pioneer himself to find out that there’s more that meets the eye with the highly acclaimed hairdresser, and it all starts deep within his family roots.
Rossano Ferretti’s name within the world of hair dressing is one of huge reputation and admiration – known globally for his ‘method cutting’ amongst the rich and famous, it is no surprise he is the best in the business. “It’s an art” Ferretti says, “Hairdressers are artists, hair cutting is an art and my method cutting is a dance” – in fact art and architecture was Ferretti’s first love and if you are one of the lucky ones to have witnessed first-hand the method cut itself you would agree it is synchronising with scissors and a pure beauty to watch.
Born into the world of hairdressing, Ferretti completes three generations of hair. “My grandfather was my influence” Ferretti explains, his Mother and Grandmother were also owners of a small salon in his home village of Parma. Ferretti lived and breathed hair, so much so, that at the age of 15 and without knowing a word of English Ferretti was accepted to join the Sassoon Academy in London where within his first week he was offered a job which he quite quickly rejected. “I wanted to explore the world, I wanted to witness the fashion scenes in all four corners of the globe, to learn of the trends with my own eyes”.
Visiting the local cultures over the years and witnessing the fashion trends of the time, allowed Ferretti to really stamp his mark within the hairdressing industry. All that was seen on his travels were bought back to his home town where Ferretti’s first ever Hairspa opened in his home town of Parma. This quite quickly expanded to other territories across Italy including Madrid, Rome and Milan and then over seas to Miami, New York, Monaco and the Middle East.
Ferretti is well and truly one of the worlds most loved hairdressers, and is most certainly on the wall of fame alongside Sassoon as being a pioneer within the hairdressing industry. The clientele he has built, the brand he has produced and the exclusive products he has launched reflects his passion for hair – and ultimately the name as a result for the love and influence of his family, will never be washed away within generations to come.
