UPDATE [from 9am Tuesday 26th May): From Wednesday 27th May beauty and hair salons can now operate between 6am - 11pm with gyms and fitness centres now open. But spa and waxing services are still prohibited.

From Sunday 26th April beauty and hair salons can re-open in Dubai after coronavirus lockdown. With many rules to follow we outline below what you need to do to re-open successfully and safely:

  • Salons can only open from 12pm - 10pm
  • Only accept customers who have made an appointment - no walk-in's allowed
  • Hair and nail treatments only
  • You can only operate your salon with 30% of your staff
  • Take temperature of all customers prior to entry. Temperatures not to be above 37.5 degrees (however temperatures can be raised due to the heat or stress so if it is marginally over ask your client to wait for 10 minutes so they can cool down and reasses again)
  • Clients must wear a face mask at all times
  • Stick to the social distancing rules of keeping chairs and hair/beauty stations 2 meters a part
  • Clean daily with approved disinfectant products
  • Fill out mandatory cleaning form regularly
  • Use disposable towels only
  • Encourage contactless pay - avoid taking cash where possible

Regular inspections will be made by Dubai Municipality to check you are operating safely - salons can be asked to close if not being seen to abide by the guidelines set above.
