Six Senses The Palm unveils sustainability plans and Earth Lab

Six Senses The Palm is set to place sustainability at the heart of its operations when the new Dubai resort opens later in 2026, with a dedicated learning and education space among its key initiatives.

Located on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, the resort is scheduled to open in September and will feature Earth Lab, a dedicated space focused on environmental education and sustainable living. The facility will be open to guests, residents and the wider Dubai community.

Earth Lab will offer workshops covering waste reduction, recycling, upcycling and responsible consumption. Educational programmes for children will also be introduced to promote environmental awareness from an early age.

Described as a “beachfront urban sanctuary”, Six Senses The Palm has incorporated a range of sustainability measures into its design and operations. The resort has applied for LEED Silver certification and will use systems designed to improve energy and water efficiency.

These include energy-efficient district cooling, solar-assisted hot water systems, biodiverse green roofs and greywater recovery systems. Treated greywater will be reused for landscape irrigation, helping to reduce the property's reliance on potable water.

The resort will also focus on responsible sourcing, biodiversity and efficient water management through its landscaping strategy. A zero single-use plastic policy will be implemented alongside on-site waste segregation, composting and material recovery initiatives designed to reduce, reuse and recycle waste across operations.

Further supporting these efforts will be a Sustainability Fund, which will allocate 0.5 percent of resort revenue to environmental and social projects benefiting the local ecosystem and surrounding community.

Leading the resort's sustainability strategy will be Dominic Paul Dubois, who has been appointed director of sustainability at Six Senses The Palm.

Dubois joins from Six Senses Crans-Montana, where he led sustainability initiatives during the property's pre-opening phase. His work included waste management, energy reduction, responsible sourcing and community engagement, as well as establishing the resort's Earth Lab and Sustainability Fund.

He added that Earth Lab, educational programmes and experiences connected to the culture and heritage of the UAE would provide guests and the wider community with opportunities to engage more consciously with their environment.

With its combination of sustainable infrastructure, environmental education and community-focused initiatives, Six Senses The Palm aims to make sustainability a central part of the guest experience ahead of its planned September 2026 opening.
