The 2017 F.A.M.E Team wows the crowd at Professional Beauty GCC

The 2017 UK F.A.M.E Team really impressed the Professional Beauty GCC crowds - here's what they have to say about their experience...

Day One
After bonding very well and singing along to the sound of music for the entire duration of our 7 hour flight, The F.A.M.E. Team landed in Dubai After being greeted by the Professional Beauty Team at the airport they were driven to their hotel, where not only were they staying in the longest hotel in the world but also one with a huge racecourse. The F.A.M.E. Team were whisked off to their model casting held at Gloss Academy, a perfect space for meeting and dressing the models.

The F.A.M.E. Team were lucky enough to have been booked in that evening for a beautiful meal at the Marina. The top floor views made dinner even more spectular and unforgettable.

Gavin McIntyre said “Dubai is an overwhelming place! We have been so well looked after so far, I am excited for the days ahead!”

Day Two
An early start for The F.A.M.E. Team as they headed back to Gloss Academy for a full day of preparing for their shows. After discussing in depth exactly what their inspiration was they went on to focus on the theme of Dual Texture, which would incorporate London Fashion where possible. Colour work and styling began and as the looks evolved Gavin, James, Jordanna and Ria were really excited and very happy with how everything was coming together.

That evening they celebrated a brilliant day with a cocktail (or two) at the hotel before heading to a nearby sports bar for the Rugby. Although, Ria and Jordanna spent most of their night browsing Pinterest for hair inspiration. Then it was on to a club for some dancing, music and drinks.

Jordanna Cobella said “ Prep days for me tend to be very heavy as I can be so hard on myself but today, I feel so lucky to be in a team so talented and so motivating! 4 heads are always better than 1!”

Day Three
After a very busy day yesterday today was a chance to relax by the pool, although the sunshine was not up to expectation, they still had a lovely time. Then it was a chance to catch up with the other hairdressers who had also travelled over from the UK, before they were given a tour and brief of the backstage and exhibition space.

A gorgeous buffet awaited them, and everyone involved in the show, that night at the hotel. The F.A.M.E. Team were certainly being very well looked after by the Professional Beauty Team, plus the buffet gave them a perfect opportunity to get lots of tips and hints from industry experts like Chris Foster.

James Earnshaw said “We have had such a laugh so far but I am raring to go for the show tomorrow and show off our hard work.”

Day Four
An early alarm call saw The F.A.M.E. Team down for breakfast at 6.30am before squeezing into one hotel room to prep the models for the show. It was important they were all together to inspire and help each other so they made it work!

A golf buggy was a novel mode of transport for The F.A.M.E. Team as they made their way over to the exhibition. The nerves then started to set in but with the preparation and team work evident the show was a huge success. The 40 minutes flew by as they showcased beautiful hair.

The next show wasn’t far away as in just a few hours they returned with some variations on their stage show that morning. Chris Foster was on hand to introduce The F.A.M.E. Team and again they wowed the audience.

The evening saw Gavin, James, Jordanna and Ria sharing a lovely Asian meal with some other wonderful UK hairdressers – before an early night ready for the final day!

Ria Kulik said “What a fantastic feeling it was when everything came together on stage today! I can’t wait for tomorrow!”

Day Five
Another early start for The F.A.M.E. Team but they certainly felt a lot more comfortable after (delete such) two great shows the day before. Feeling incredibly inspired and motivated they were determined to make today even more spectacular.

The first show of the day went brilliantly but the final show of the exhibition saw The F.A.M.E. Team really make their mark. They worked in pairs to showcase their looks and they certainly left the stage on a huge high.

The trip ended perfectly with Gavin, James, Jordanna and Ria venturing out of the hotel to visit the infamous Dubai Mall, where they sat and dined in style before heading back to the hotel armed with some treats from the Cheesecake Factory.

The F.A.M.E. Team said about the experience “This was unforgettable and, not only did we learn an incredible amount from each other, but the mentors and Professional Beauty Team made our stay even more amazing. We really did laugh and giggle every day! We will truly miss the Professional Beauty team with a big thank you to Andy, Emma, Zaid and Jamilla for their support throughout. It was our first international hair experience and we all couldn’t have done it without everyone involved. We are SO excited to bond even further as a team, and continue to work really hard to put on an even better collection on stage at HJ live in 2 weeks!”

The F.A.M.E. Team would like to thank the following:
Nick Irwin, Stacey Irwin, The Professional Beauty Team; Bruno Marc; Andreas Stavrou; Beverly C; Laura-Jane Upton; Chris Foster; Mark Woolley; Gloss Academy and everyone at The Fellowship for making this possible

A huge thank you to everyone at Hairdressers Journal for giving The F.A.M.E. Team such an amazing opportunity to showcase their work. It really was something they will never forget and they enhanced their skills, confidence and also made some amazing memories along the way
