Dubai Hotels combating a dip in demand

Amidst the current global climate which sees tourism declining. Hotel properties in Dubai look to combat the dip in demand in various creative ways.

The National announces that Emaar Hospitality, a subsidiary of Dubai’s top developer Emaar Properties will stop taking bookings in Dubai from March 15 until August 31st. The three properties affected by this announcement are Address Fountain Views at Downtown Dubai, Vida Creek Harbour near Dubai Creek and Vida Emirates Hills located in Emaar's Emirates Hills master development in Dubai. Hotel facilities however will continue to stay open, including gyms, restaurants and pools.

 

“Following the recent global impact on the travel industry drawing us into a state of force majeure, Emaar Hospitality Group has taken the decision to temporarily refocus its operations on a selected number of assets,” an Emaar Hospitality representative told The National.

 

Other properties in Dubai reduce staff by offering unpaid leave and requesting they use any holiday days owed. Reducing overhead costs such as staffing, in the foreseeable quiet period.

 

Novotel Bur Dubai announces ‘Pay as You Please’ stays, Guests can pay the amount they wish at the end of their stay. In addition to the flexible room rates, there will be 25% off of all spa treatments and F&B experiences during a stay. These offers will be running throughout the month of March.

 

Novotel Bur Dubai GM Bruno Fischer explained: “We are always innovating to add new guest experiences at Novotel Bur Dubai and ‘Pay as You Please’ is a thank you to our valued guests for being part of our community the past eight months.”

Over in Oman five-star resort Six Senses Zighy Bay has also announced it will offer UAE residents a 20% discount on room rates during March.

 

With numerous special offers floating around the inevitable price war begins.
