Faking it
Recent inspections by authorities in Abu Dhabi on beauty and/or hair salons resulted in a number of violations being uncovered. Among these were health & safety concerns, as well as the discovery of fake or expired products. The use of fake products is diminishing across the region, primarily due to greater levels of awareness and education about the dangers of using these products, and also due to inspections that result in the confiscation of any such products. But the question still remains, why use a fake product in the first place?
Firstly, you’re misleading clients. They have come to your salon expecting a certain brand or range of products to be used, and perhaps specifically because they have a preference for these products, and to use anything other than the real thing is false marketing and bad practice. Not only could the fake versions be inferior in terms of quality and results, but they could also be harmful to clients. If the client is unsatisfied with the results, they are unlikely to return to your salon. Or much worse, if they are harmed by the use of fake products then you could be facing more serious consequences.
On the flip side using genuine products ensures that both you and your clients know what you are buying. They also come with the added benefits of product training and support – invaluable assets for any salon.
It can be tempting to save money by opting for a cheaper, less legitimate version of a product, but weighted against the cost of losing your reputation, clients and potentially your entire business, then the decision is clear. Real products are the only ones to choose.
