Accor's locally-inspired brand, Mercure, has made its first foray into Oman with the soft opening of Mercure Muscat. The new hotel reflects the brand’s ethos of embracing local exploration and authentic hospitality, capturing the essence of Omani culture.

Conveniently located just 15 minutes from Muscat International Airport, Mercure Muscat is ideally positioned to serve both business and leisure travelers. Its proximity to key commercial hubs and government offices ensures it caters to a wide range of guests, from corporate visitors to tourists.

The hotel boasts 186 elegantly designed rooms and suites, combining simplicity with style to create an authentic Omani atmosphere. Guests are treated to panoramic views of the city, mountains, and sea, while the interiors feature Omani-inspired calligraphy and urban art that pay homage to the country’s artistic heritage, making Mercure Muscat a unique addition to the brand's global portfolio.

Among the hotel’s top-tier amenities is a seventh-floor outdoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi, offering a relaxing retreat in the heart of the city. A state-of-the-art health club and a tranquil spa provide a range of treatments, ensuring guests leave feeling rejuvenated.

For meetings and events, Mercure Muscat is equipped with a versatile ballroom that accommodates up to 450 guests, making it one of the largest in the city. With private access and a pillarless design, it’s perfect for weddings and large events. The hotel also features three additional meeting rooms for smaller gatherings, catering to both business and personal needs.

In line with Mercure’s ‘Discover Local’ programme, the hotel offers an authentic culinary experience, highlighting the flavors of Oman. Guests can choose from several dining options, including The Valley, an all-day dining restaurant, M Café in the lobby, a poolside bar, and Yum Yum, a specialty Asian Fusion restaurant. The menu combines regional specialties with international favorites, emphasizing locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Ismail Ibrahim, General Manager of Mercure Muscat, emphasized the importance of the hotel's dining experience: “At Mercure Muscat, we’re proud to immerse guests in Omani culture through our food. Our ‘Discover Local’ programme allows guests to explore the region’s rich culinary heritage, offering a memorable and meaningful experience.”

He added, “Our design integrates local elements to create an authentic stay, while our commitment to sustainability ensures guests enjoy premium amenities that reflect their well-being.”

Paul Stevens, Chief Operating Officer of Premium, Midscale & Economy Division at Accor, highlighted the significance of the new property, stating: “We’re proud to introduce Mercure Muscat to Oman. This marks not only the expansion of our brand but also our dedication to connecting travelers with the rich heritage and hospitality of Oman.”

Owned by Castle Tourism Hotel Management LLC, Mercure Muscat is the first of its kind in the capital. Mercure, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023, continues to expand, with over 1,000 hotels now open globally and more than 200 additional properties in development.

Mercure Muscat aims to become a cornerstone of Omani hospitality, offering travelers a blend of cultural immersion, comfort, and world-class service.
