Sephora introduces global sustainability seals
Sephora has unveiled its latest sustainability initiative with the launch of two global seals, "Clean at Sephora" and "Planet Aware at Sephora," unveiled at the ChangeNow summit in Paris. These seals, set to debut in April, mark a significant step towards enhancing transparency and standardization across Sephora's product offerings worldwide. The announcement was made by Sephora's executive team, led by President and CEO Guillaume Motte.
The development of these seals was a collaborative effort involving external environmental and scientific experts over two years, building upon Sephora's sustainability journey initiated in 2018. Originally rolled out regionally, Sephora's sustainable product labels have since expanded across various markets, including the U.S., Europe, and beyond, resulting in a notable increase in sustainable product offerings.
Designed to incentivize beauty brands towards more responsible product development and transparency, Sephora's sustainability seals establish criteria for ingredients, sourcing, packaging, and corporate commitments. The phased introduction of these seals will cover regions such as North America, Europe, the U.K., the Middle East, Brazil, Mexico, with plans for China by 2025. This initiative underscores Sephora's commitment to driving positive change within the beauty industry, aiming to foster a more responsible approach to beauty product development and consumption.
