You didn't think we would miss out on sharing Margot Robbie's sensational Barbie-inspired blonde formula, did you? As the highly anticipated movie premiered and Margot graced the pink carpet, her talented colorist Jacob Schwartz (@jacobschwartzhair) spilled the secrets behind achieving this much sought-after look.

In the realm of pop culture hair moments, Jacob revealed that he delved into mood boards to gather inspiration for the perfect blonde shade of summer 2023, and he encourages other colorists to do the same. He emphasized the importance of studying blonde hair references, drawing inspiration from sources such as old movies, ྖs supermodels, and natural hair colors. He urged fellow professionals to create mood boards and embrace the inspiration they provide.

Now, let's dive into the details of the formula that miraculously transformed Margot's level 6/7 dark blonde hair into a radiant, natural-looking golden shade.

COLOR FORMULAS

  • Formula A (fine highlights)

Schwarzkopf Professional® BLONDME Powder lightener + BLONDME 20-volume Developer

  • Formula B (hairline)

    Schwarzkopf Professional® Igora Vibrance 9-0 + BLONDME 6-volume Developer

  • Formula C (roots)

    Igora Vibrance 7-0 + BLONDME 6-volume Developer

  • Formula D (underneath)

    Igora Vibrance  6-0 + BLONDME 6-volume Developer

  • Formula E (middle section)

    Igora Vibrance 9-0+9-4+8-46 + BLONDME 6-volume Developer

FORMULA STEPS

1. Start with creating fine highlights using Formula A.

Pro tip: To arrive at the perfect shade of gold, Jacob suggests to use a lower volume developer in your lightener, keep an eye on the foils and never let the hair develop past gold.

2. Let the highlights lift to gold then shampoo and condition using Schwarzkopf Professional® BLONDME All Blondes line.

3. On damp hair apply Formula B to the front hairline, Formula C to the roots and Formula D at the back hairline.

4. Apply Formula E to the middle section.

5. Let all sections process for 15 minutes.

6. Lift up the highlighted ends (to avoid meshing with the other blonde colors) and rinse again using the BLONDME All blondes line.

Pro tip: Jacob encourages blonde clients to use hydrating and strengthening products for lightened hair at home (like the BLONDME line) to protect and keep the hair from going brassy.
