Zoya Health & Wellbeing Resort UAE's first five-star health resort to open in Ajman in September

Ajman’s mangroves are set to welcome a new neighbour this summer. Zoya Health & Wellbeing Resort is a five-star holistic wellness retreat due to open in the UAE's smallest emirate in September.

Located in Al Zorah, the 60-room resort is the first of its kind in the region, and will offer a wide variety of holistic wellness treatments, complemented by an entirely plant-based menu and a varied selection of leisure activities.

Surrounded by 12 kilometres of mangroves which are home to rich biodiversity, including 58 species of birds, the resort's rooms and suites overlook the endless greenery. The boutique-style health retreat is located on Al Zorah Golf Club, and is sure to be a hit with golf enthusiasts.

Travellers checking into Zoya for a health programme must spend a minimum of five nights in residence, with some of the treatment plans involving stays of up to three weeks.

However, the resort will also be open for day guests and is set to host several community wellness events, said Maja-Marija Lovric, marketing and communications consultant at Zoya, speaking at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.

Rooms are spacious and designed to promote relaxation. Guests can expect a minimalist design with neutral tones inspired by the surrounding landscapes. Deluxe suites come with private terraces and the Royal Suite spans 120 square metres and has a private Turkish hammam, infrared sauna and couples massage room for the ultimate pampering escape.

All treatment plans at Zoya Health & Wellbeing Resort begin with a medical consultation with one of the three in-house doctors. Guests then have a wellness assessment before being issued with a tailor-made nutrition plan consisting of plant-based, organic products.

Each stay will be different for each guest, with retreats tailored to suit each person's individual needs. Travellers may be offered metabolic treatments, holistic therapies, physical exercises or spiritual sessions. The medical arm of the resort is being operated by Premedion, a world-renowned German spa and health specialist. There will also be detox, physiotherapy, anti-ageing and rehabilitation treatments on offer.

Burak Cankat, wellness director at Zoya Health & Wellbeing Resort, said he expected the weight-loss programmes to be popular with guests in the region. He also explained more about the post-Covid-19 treatment that will be available at the resort.

"It will be designed to help boost people's immune systems if they have suffered from Covid-19 and have lingering complications. And it will help to prevent them from being susceptible to similar infections in the future. We can also offer a similar treatment for anyone who has overcome cancer."

Fitness will be another key focus at the resort with a medical gym, hydro-gym, personal trainer sessions and fitness classes on offer.

Daily schedules for each guest will encompass various activities such as a morning sunrise mediation, sunset yoga, kayaking through the mangroves and spa treatments.
