Accor expands Mercure brand with first Abu Dhabi opening

Updated on 08th Sep 2025

Accor has debuted the Mercure Hotel Abu Dhabi Downtown, marking the brand’s first property in the UAE capital and its fifth nationwide.

The 156-key hotel, located near Capital Garden and within walking distance of the Corniche, offers a mix of rooms, suites and one-bedroom apartments. Facilities include a rooftop pool, spa with sauna, and a fitness centre. Interiors draw inspiration from Emirati culture, with desert-inspired tones, textured finishes and locally influenced artwork.

Guests can choose from three dining outlets: Mokaia, a lobby café serving coffee and pastries; Livi, a Mediterranean restaurant with an open kitchen and private dining space; and Le Cellier, a top-floor venue offering city skyline views.

To celebrate the opening, Accor’s loyalty members can enjoy four times the usual reward points until 30 September, alongside special discounts, complimentary upgrades and late check-out.

The launch comes as Abu Dhabi’s hotel market continues to strengthen. The emirate recorded AED846 million in revenues in April 2025, up 38.6% from March and 30.4% year-on-year, according to the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. Several additional openings are slated before year-end, including the Mondrian Abu Dhabi.

The new hotel expands Accor’s UAE Mercure portfolio, which currently includes four Dubai properties, as well as the Grand Mercure Dubai and Majlis Grand Mercure Abu Dhabi. Regionally, Accor has also been growing the brand in Saudi Arabia, with openings in Riyadh, Makkah and, most recently, Aseer.
