Atlantis Dubai makes history as first resort in eastern hemisphere to achieve Certified Autism Center™ Designation

Published 02nd Apr 2024

Dubai's premier integrated destination, Atlantis Dubai, continues to set new benchmarks in guest experience and accessibility by proudly becoming the first resort destination in the Eastern Hemisphere to earn the prestigious Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

Building on the successful certification of Atlantis Aquaventure in 2023, Atlantis Dubai is delighted to announce that both Atlantis, The Palm and Atlantis The Royal have also achieved the CAC designation. This groundbreaking accomplishment underscores the team's unwavering dedication to providing exceptional experiences for guests with diverse needs, fostering an inclusive environment for all.

The CAC™ designation is awarded to organizations that undergo rigorous training and review processes to better understand and assist autistic and sensory-sensitive guests, as well as individuals with other forms of determination. This designation ensures that at least 80% of colleagues are trained in autism and sensory awareness, equipped to provide exemplary service to individuals on the autism spectrum.

In collaboration with IBCCES, Atlantis Dubai implemented extensive training programs, with more than 90% of guest-facing colleagues across both resorts completing training in Autism & Sensory Awareness (ASA). Additionally, the Learning & Development team developed a Weekly Briefing Topic on Autism and Sensory Awareness, benefiting an additional 1,500 colleagues across Atlantis Dubai.

In addition to training, Atlantis Dubai has introduced several initiatives to enhance accessibility:

  • The Atlantis Dubai website features an accessibility tab offering downloadable sensory guides for rooms, restaurants, and experiences at both resorts, allowing guests with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to plan their visit in advance.
  • Designated quiet zones are available across both resorts, providing a tranquil retreat for guests seeking respite from sensory stimulation.
  • Guests can make special requests and inquiries through a dedicated form on the Atlantis Dubai website before their visit, ensuring their unique needs are addressed and accommodated.

To celebrate World Autism Month this April, Atlantis Dubai invites individuals of determination to participate in a complimentary access program for Aquaventure Waterpark and The Lost Chambers Aquarium. Persons of determination and one caregiver can avail two complimentary tickets to both attractions by presenting a valid ID card at the ticketing plaza, with accompanying guests receiving 50% off admission tickets.

Atlantis Dubai's achievement underscores its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, setting a new standard for hospitality and reinforcing its position as a leading destination dedicated to providing unforgettable experiences for all guests.
