Hyundai Unveils All-Electric "Spa in a Car" Wellness Pop-Up in London

Published 09th Jun 2026

A new pop-up experience in central London is pushing the boundaries of self-care by bringing wellness treatments into an entirely unexpected setting: the back seat of an electric car.

The "Spa in a Car" activation transforms Hyundai’s flagship, all-electric IONIQ 9 SUV into a mobile wellness sanctuary. Stationed at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square, the unique collaboration between the automotive giant and Fine Clinic London offers busy city dwellers complimentary, 20-minute relaxation sessions.

The immersive experience features authentic Korean head, neck, shoulder, and facial massages delivered by professional K-beauty therapists right inside the vehicle.

The vehicle cabin as a new wellness frontier

The concept is driven by fresh consumer research commissioned by Hyundai, which reveals that modern drivers are increasingly viewing their vehicles as an escape from daily life.

According to the study:

  • 82% of respondents admit to staying parked in their car for extra time just to enjoy a few moments of peace and quiet.
  • 55% say the car is one of the only remaining places where they can properly switch off and unplug.
  • 43% notes that driving actively helps clear their head when they are feeling overwhelmed.

"Spa in a Car is designed to give people something we know is increasingly hard to find, a moment to themselves," said Ashley Andrew, president of Hyundai Motor Company and Genesis UK. "We’re always looking for new ways to showcase the versatility of our vehicles, and this does exactly that, transforming the car into a sanctuary where guests can truly relax."

Blending high-tech mobility with K-Beauty traditions

The choice of the IONIQ 9 for this mobile retreat was deliberate. The large EV boasts an expansive, lounge-style interior, premium relaxation seating, and advanced, ultra-quiet electric powertrain technology. These features create a naturally tranquil environment that easily transitions into a professional treatment room.

Yeany Kim, director of Fine Clinic London, highlighted the authenticity of the experience, stating, "Our Korean therapists bring the latest beauty and wellness techniques directly from Seoul, combining traditional Korean rituals with modern K-beauty innovations."

The London pop-up reflects a larger global shift within the wellness industry as premium brands explore immersive, experiential formats outside traditional brick-and-mortar spas.

Given the UAE's reputation as a world capital for luxury automotive culture, forward-thinking hospitality, and high-end wellness innovation, a mobile oasis like this would feel right at home on the streets of Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
