Marriott International, Inc. has officially signed an agreement with Manarat Al Dheyafah Company for Real Estate to launch The Westin Abha, marking the hospitality giant's debut in Saudi Arabia's picturesque Asir region.

Slated to open in 2031, the upcoming property highlights Marriott's continued push to support the Kingdom’s overarching Vision 2030 tourism and economic growth objectives.

A strategic mountain gateway

Nestled within the Jabal Thah Valley, The Westin Abha will be situated in the capital of the Asir province, renowned as Saudi Arabia’s premier mountain destination for its high altitude, temperate climate, and dramatic natural landscapes. The hotel’s location will offer seamless access to both the city centre, the commercial and cultural core of Asir, and Abha International Airport.

"The signing of The Westin Abha marks another significant milestone in our continued expansion across Saudi Arabia, reinforcing the Kingdom’s strategic importance to Marriott’s long-term growth," said Karim Cheltout, Senior Vice President of Development for the Middle East & Africa at Marriott International.

"Abha’s distinctive climate, natural environment, and growing tourism appeal make it a strong fit for Westin’s wellness-driven hospitality philosophy. We look forward to delivering a hotel that resonates with travellers seeking renewal, balance, and connection to nature."

Key property features

Designed around the Westin brand's core pillars of wellbeing and restorative living, the property will offer a comprehensive suite of guest offerings and amenities:

  • 464 Guestrooms: Elegantly styled rooms focused on sleep quality, comfort, and mindful design.
  • Diverse Accommodations: The broader complex is planned to include standalone villas, chalets, and extended-stay apartments to cater to various length-of-stay needs.
  • Lifestyle & Wellness Facilities: Curated wellness spaces emphasizing movement, relaxation, and health.
  • Dining & Event Spaces: A multi-concept dining portfolio alongside dedicated meeting and conference facilities built for both business and leisure travel.

Driving regional tourism

The development represents a key step for local real estate development in Asir, an area rapidly gaining attention for eco-tourism and cultural travel.

"Collaborating with Marriott International to bring the Westin brand to Abha marks a significant step in our journey into hospitality development," noted Mr. Mohammed Al Nashwan, Chief Executive Officer of Manarat Al Dheyafah Company for Real Estate.

"This project reflects our commitment to supporting the long-term growth of the Asir Region while delivering a globally recognised hospitality experience that complements Abha’s unique character and natural setting."
