The V word - vegan beauty trending

Vegan beauty is trending, with more people than ever searching for options that are free from animal by products.

If you’re a newbie to vegan skincare, you won’t be for long. Veganism is now a powerful movement. If you’re not trying to be vegan then someone you know probably is, and is encouraging others to do so; that’s how big it has become.

Industry analyst Mintel reported that all beauty and personal care products launched in 2017, which featured vegan, rose to 11.8% - an increase from 5.4% in 2013.

“As more people embrace vegan diets and clean eating, we’re seeing them question the products they put on their skin and hair, giving rise to the vegan beauty trend,” says Roshida Khanom, associate director of beauty and personal care at Mintel.

As a result, professional brands like ELEMIS are putting a much greater focus on meeting this growing demand by giving vegan and cruelty-free ranges some serious bite. Superfood Skincare is ELEMIS’ latest vegan skincare range, packed full of supergreen and supergrain complexes, which are rich in antioxidants, omega fatty acids, vitamins and minerals – almost good enough to eat.

The range features a pre-biotic, designed to aid in supporting the good-for-you microflora on the skin’s surface, helping to balance and maintain the skin’s delicate ecosystem. “The microgflora is the very first defence barrier against environmental stresses that can harm skin vitality. It’s crucial to keep the microflora balanced for good skin health. The super ingredients that run through this range offer holistic nutrition for your skin and work super synergistically with all the foods, juices, and supplements you consume” comments ELEMIS co-founder, Noella Gabriel.
