Dubai unveils Dh3 Billion Buddha-Bar Hotel on World Islands, targeting luxury travelers

Updated on 08th Jul 2025

Dubai has unveiled a major Dh3 billion luxury development on the World Islands, introducing the Middle East’s first Buddha-Bar Hotel and an exclusive Honeymoon Island. Developed by Kleindienst Group in collaboration with George V Eatertainment and Buddha-Bar International, the project promises to redefine high-end hospitality in the region.

Strategically timed to align with changing global tourism patterns, the resort aims to attract European travellers shifting away from the U.S. due to geopolitical concerns, while also catering to the growing GCC and UAE staycation market.

“Dubai is now one of the most desirable alternatives for luxury travel,” said Josef Kleindienst, Founder and Chairman of Kleindienst Group, citing the emirate’s strong connectivity, safety, and appeal for experiential tourism.

The project revives interest in the long-dormant World Islands development, originally conceived over two decades ago. Now reimagined through the Heart of Europe initiative, the themed archipelago includes six islands—Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, St. Petersburg, Floating Venice, and Main Europe—each reflecting distinct European cultures, adapted for Dubai’s climate and lifestyle.

At the heart of the new destination is the Buddha-Bar Hotel, featuring 162 upscale rooms and suites suspended above clear blue waters and vibrant coral reefs. It blends the brand’s signature Asian-influenced design, ambient music, and culinary sophistication, offering a tranquil yet luxurious escape from city life.

Adjacent to the hotel is the Buddha-Bar Beach Honeymoon Island, a 24-hour retreat tailored for couples, complete with private cabanas, sunset dining, and curated nightlife. “The goal is to create the world’s finest escape in one singular destination,” said Nabil Souhail, Vice President of Buddha-Bar International.

Adding to the project’s allure are Floating Villas—eco-conscious overwater residences featuring glass floors and direct sea access, reflecting Dubai’s forward-thinking approach to sustainable luxury.

The resort is part of a larger hospitality plan, with the Heart of Europe expected to include over 4,000 hotel keys across 20 boutique properties upon full completion in 2027. At peak, the islands will host up to 16,000 guests, including 5,000 day visitors.

With construction already 52% complete, Kleindienst noted strong demand despite global economic headwinds, emphasizing the project's appeal to local and regional travelers.

Sustainability and wellness are core to the resort's identity, with features like climate-controlled streets, coral reef restoration, and European-style attractions—such as gondola rides on Floating Venice and alpine spas on Switzerland Island—offering year-round, immersive experiences within the UAE.

Looking ahead, Kleindienst Group is preparing to launch two more large-scale developments, continuing its vision of iconic, transformative hospitality across Dubai’s evolving tourism landscape.
