Tale as old as time: SensAsia Stories at Kempinski, Mall of Emirates, Dubai review
"Tale as old as time"
Review: SensAsia Stories @ Kempinski, Mall of Emirates, Dubai
The lowdown:
SensAsia Stories is yet another spa property added to the already vast portfolio of SensAsia spas found in Dubai – this time with a twist. SensAsia Stories is a totally new concept with a theme around ‘stories’ – and, hence it’s name, which I’m told by the founder Salina Handa – was a name given by her daughter.
Alongside the grand opening of SensAsia Stories, Salina has gone one step further within the spa and wellness sphere by launching her own consultancy business named “The Spa People” in the Middle East – with SensAsia Stories being the first project.
PB says:
Situated within Kempinski Hotel beside the bustling Mall of Emirates, this new SensAsia concept takes you one step further away from the hectic-ness of the Dubai metropolis into a paradise of Thai and Balinese culture tucked away behind a large stone vault door.
Upon arrival, you are instantly met with the new urban-chic interior which clearly distinguishes the difference between new SensAsia and old – yet without compensating the Thai or Balinese experience you feel across all of the spa properties.
The spa space itself spans across 4,000 square metres and you can see the SensAsia Story ‘stamp’ within all corners of the property, from the names of the rooms through to the different spaces themselves, each area marking their own story for each customer to experience.
The story theme is even aligned to the treatments on offer, with the signature experience being a ‘build your own’ massage which was an unforgettable experience and hugely unique. Personalisation is so key for spa goers now, that gone are the days of set spa experiences – building your own is paving the way the industry should head – Salina and her team behind “The Spa People” are certainly heading in the right direction.
A traditional story is formatted with a beginning, middle and end – and this is certainly felt with the massage experience given. Not only were little added extras bundled in at no extra charge – for example the foot ritual, but also the ‘build your own’ begins with a VR reality meditation experience, where you are transported to the Seychelles for 15 minutes in the form of a headset – a real experience which starts the narrative for the rest of the treatment in the most perfect of ways.
Business benefits:
Personalisation is high on the wellness treatment map for 2021 and beyond – and SensAsia Stories hits the nail on the head by offering complete control to the customer to be sure they get exactly what they want. Building your own also allows your therapists to upsell in added extras – these two ingredients of personalising and upselling can really transform your business and also gives customers an experience they will never forget.
